How Does A Chemical Peel Work?

Chemical peels work by removing the outer layers of the skin. The depth of the peeling is determined by the chemical agent used and the concentration, among other factors. Following a chemical peel, the deeper layers of the skin will respond by regenerating new skin and by increasing the production of collagen.

How is it different to other Dermalogica Skin Treatments?

It is Dermalogica's most powerful resurfacing treatment to date, unlike any other professional treatment available.

It delivers visible results without the adverse side effects of aggressive chemical peels. This intense treatment requires the professional skin therapist's undivided attention. therefore, there is no customising, no mixing and no massage.

Due to the advanced nature of this treatment a consultation and patch test are required at least 24 hours before your first treatment. A course of treatments is required, with a minimum of 3 treatments, but ideally 6, at regular intervals.

There are important pre-peel preparations and post treatment aftercare that must be strictly followed to achieve maximum results. These will be discussed with you prior to commencing your course of treatments.

Is There Anything I need To Do To Prepare For My BioSurface peel Treatments?

Once your skin care professional determines you are a candidate for BioSurface Peel treatments, she may prescribe a Dermalogica product pre-treatment regimen specific to your skin condition. It is good practice to discontinue the use of prescribed exfoliants (such as Retin-A or Renova) at least 48 hours prior to, and during, BioSurface Peel treatments.

Is There Any Post Treatment Care I Should Be Aware Of?

Immediately after your BioSurface Peel treatment, it is normal for your skin to appear slightly red and flushed. As your skin goes through the renewal process you may experience dryness, redness and tightness, as well as some peeling or flaking within a week. You may also notice a temporarily more pronounced appearance of pigmentation as it rises to the skins surface.

These side effects will subside quickly with proper post-treatment care, starting with the BioSurface Peel After Care Kit (included in the course package)

You will need to avoid direct daylight exposure for 2-3 weeks after your BioSurface Peel treatment and wear a wide brim hat if going in the sun. Direct sun exposure must be avoided to prevent hyper-pigmentation.

Your dedication to post-treatment care will impact the results of BioSurface Peel treatments so ask our skin therapist for a fully customised Dermalogica skin care prescription to help ensure lasting results.
